You will develop strong customer relationships with premier restaurants and retail shops in Omaha and its surrounding communities. Armed with the region & strongest imported wine portfolio, you will focus on expanding existing major accounts while growing your territory and making key business connections with restaurant, retail, and hospitality partners.
Position

Summary

The Wine Sales Consultant manages and grows an active client base in the Omaha market. This role develops relationships with boutique wine retailers, hotels, wine bars, other licensed accounts, and restaurants featuring exquisite wine lists. You will champion the best wineries from the greatest wine regions in the world, serving as a key asset to customers by helping them build profitable and unique wine programs.

This position requires strong product knowledge, disciplined account management, persuasive selling skills, and the ability to work independently in the field while representing our team with professionalism and integrity. An entrepreneurial spirit is a must!

Key Responsibilities
  • Territory Management: Manage, service, and grow assigned on-premise and off-premise accounts within a well-established, defined sales territory.
  • Business Development: Prospect for new business, open new licensed accounts, and expand distribution for priority brands and portfolio categories.
  • Client Engagement: Conduct regular, frequent sales calls with buyers, beverage managers, chefs, owners, and retail decision-makers.
  • Portfolio Presentation: Present wines professionally using samples, tasting notes, pricing, sales materials, producer stories, and account-specific recommendations.
  • Sales Execution: Secure orders, follow up promptly, and coordinate with operations and customer service to ensure accurate, timely delivery.
  • Merchandising & Selectivity: Build wine lists, retail sets, by-the-glass placements, displays, features, and seasonal programs that support customer profitability and portfolio growth.
  • Account Support: Provide staff education, product training, tasting support, and selling tools to help accounts successfully sell portfolio wines.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor account performance, depletions, placements, inventory needs, competitive activity, and opportunities for increased sales.
  • Collaboration: Partner with suppliers, importers, winery representatives, and internal team members to execute market visits, ride‑withs, promotions, and events.
  • Administrative Diligence: Maintain accurate records of sales activity, account notes, opportunities, orders, samples, expenses, and follow‑up tasks using company systems.
  • Brand Representation: Represent The Italian Vine at tastings, wine dinners, portfolio shows, supplier meetings, and account promotions.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all company policies and applicable federal, state, and local alcohol beverage regulations—including licensing, sampling, pricing, delivery, and responsible sales requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience in wine, beverage alcohol, food service, hospitality, retail beverage, route sales, or business-to-business sales preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of wine styles, regions, varietals, producers, tasting terminology, and food pairings, with a commitment to ongoing education.
  • Proven ability to build trust with buyers and develop long-term account relationships.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, closing, organizational, and follow‑up skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage a territory, prioritize accounts, plan weekly sales calls, and work independently with minimal daily supervision.
