Position Overview

The Campus Safety Supervisor at Pius X Catholic High School is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for students, staff, families, and visitors by providing proactive security presence, responding to incidents, and coordinating safety initiatives. This role requires a balance of vigilance, relationship‑building, hospitality, and leadership in implementing best practices for school safety within a Catholic educational environment.

As a representative of Pius X Catholic High School and the Diocese of Lincoln, the Campus Safety Supervisor is expected to uphold and reflect Catholic values through compassion, integrity, respect, service, and care for others in all interactions. This position serves as a visible and approachable presence on campus and contributes to a positive school culture rooted in faith, dignity, and mutual respect.

The ideal candidate will be caring, patient, flexible, and willing to engage positively with students, staff, families, and visitors to foster a safe, welcoming, and supportive campus community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist administration with the planning, execution, and evaluation of security drills (Standard Response Protocols (SRPs) Relocation, Reunification, etc.).
  • Support administration in drafting, reviewing, and updating security plans, policies, and procedures.
  • Serve as a welcoming and professional first point of contact for students, families, visitors, vendors, and community members entering campus.
  • Represent Pius X Catholic High School with professionalism, courtesy, and a commitment to Catholic values in all interactions.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a team with school administration and staff.
  • Partner closely with Main Office staff to create a hospitable, service‑oriented environment while maintaining campus security protocols and visitor accountability.
  • Remain calm and professional during challenging situations, exercising sound judgment and maintaining a reassuring presence.
  • Utilize de‑escalation techniques to resolve conflicts safely and effectively.
  • Build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and the school community to foster trust and open communication.
  • Support a school environment that reflects the mission of Catholic education by treating all individuals with dignity, fairness, empathy, and respect.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for video surveillance, visitor management, access controls, alarm systems, and related security technologies.
  • Manage daily operation of physical security systems and coordinate maintenance with contractors or service providers.
  • Oversee Visitor Management System (VMS), including training staff and monitoring alerts.
  • Prepare clear and accurate security incident reports.
  • Conduct investigations and report findings to administration and law enforcement when necessary.
  • Conduct regular foot patrols inside and outside the building to monitor safety conditions while remaining approachable.
  • Identify and report facility‑related security issues and coordinate with Facilities Manager.
  • Assist with staff/student training (First Aid, CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, etc.).
  • Conduct Annual Security Assessments and report findings.
  • Provide support to other Diocese of Lincoln schools when needed.
Mandatory Qualifications
  • High school diploma.
  • Experience in building security.
  • Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office, security systems).
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Knowledge of de‑escalation and conflict resolution techniques.
  • Physical ability to walk/stand for extended periods in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to write clear, concise reports.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
  • Willingness to support Catholic mission and values.
  • Pass background check and complete Diocese Safe Environment Training.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in related field (Criminal Justice, Security, etc.).
