First Shift Security Guard

Location: Lincoln, NE

Hourly Rate: $17.68

• Protect the State Capitol building and other state buildings in the Lincoln area.
• Respond to emergencies and alarms.
• Provide assistance to state employees and the public.
• Perform vehicle and foot patrols of interior and exterior of buildings.
• Monitor security cameras, radar and computer security systems.
• Operate electronic guard tour system, access control and enforce building and parking rules.
• Control after‑hours building access by employees and visitors.
• Maintain records of shift activities, incidents, complaints and report to supervisor.
• Communicate calmly during emergencies and with irate individuals.
• Write accurate incident reports.

7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with Wednesdays and Thursdays off. Shifts may include evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as needed for 24‑hour coverage.

• No specific education, training or experience required.
• One year of security experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office preferred.
• Certification in first aid and CPR required, or must obtain within first six months of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and completion of an approved defensive driving class required.
• Must be able to walk approximately five miles during each shift and climb stairs.
• Must be able to work shifts, weekends and holidays. Regular and reliable attendance expected.
• U.S. citizenship and immigration eligibility required (EEV I‑9 form). Agency does not sponsor H1‑B visas.
