Position Summary
Set up and maintain barricades in accordance with department instructions. Based on experience, may be involved in striping operations according to department priorities. This position primarily works outside and is regularly exposed to weather conditions. Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely. Consistent and reliable attendance is required. This position's starting wage is $22.50/hr.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Safely load and unload Traffic Control Equipment according to department standards.

Place traffic control devices correctly to assure traffic moves through construction and maintenance zones safely, duties may vary according to job assignment.

Perform maintenance on Traffic Control equipment and inform management of any safety concerns or problems.

Read, understand, and follow Traffic Control plan, maps, and records to assure that the Traffic Control equipment are in the proper positions on the project.

Frequently lift/move sandbags and other materials weighing between 25-75 pounds

Education and/or Experience:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and
• Previous experience in traffic control or related field, or
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

• Valid Driver's license
• Must have good driving record to meet insurability requirements to drive company vehicles

Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos.
• Ability to write routine correspondence or documentation as needed.
• Ability to interact effectively with the public, co-workers, supervisors, and Inspectors.
• Knowledge of safe and efficient operation of hand and power tools.
