Position SummaryConstructors Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Crane Operator who is efficient with several types of heavy equipment such as skid loaders, track loaders, rubber tire loaders and track excavators. The operator must assist in general job‑site operations, daily maintenance of equipment and daily maintenance of slings, cables and straps. Experience with diesel pile hammer and vibratory hammer driving operations is beneficial.
The individual must be NCCCO certified for lattice boom cranes and have knowledge of rigging compliance and procedures along with the ability to operate within equipment load limits.
- Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies while performing duties safely.
- Maintain daily equipment and rigging components.
- Operate lattice boom cranes (NCCCO certified). NCCCO Mobile Crane certification or equivalent required.
- Use knowledge of rigging compliance and procedures and adhere to load limits.
- Perform maintenance on heavy equipment and keep records.
- Follow direction of Foreman/Superintendent on daily tasks and expectations for each specific job site or project.
- Safely climb and access equipment.
- Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 75 pounds or more.
- Be willing to work and have reliable transportation.
- Work day, swing, and night shifts (sometimes long hours).
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work in safety‑sensitive construction zone, around large machinery and heavy equipment.
- Work cooperatively with a team in a fast‑paced and complex environment.
- High School diploma or GED; at least 3+ years in bridge construction.
- Ability to work in a high‑production environment.
- Must be able to work according to seasonal and construction demand schedule.
- Previous heavy equipment experience concentrating on equipment used for construction of heavy highways.
- CDL preferred but not required.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use feet, hands and fingers, to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms to operate equipment. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Must be able to sit in the equipment for extended periods of time and be subject to the bouncing of the seat in the equipment.
Occasionally will use a shovel to move material. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Shifts will vary based on demands of schedule and can require overtime hours. This is a tobacco‑free campus.
