Automation Technician
Our packaging and manufacturing operations at the Lincoln site are heavily automated using programmable systems (PLCs/HMIs/VFDs), classical electrical control systems (relays, sensors, contractors), and networked systems (server‑run manufacturing software, network switches, Windows domain user control, databases). The Automation Technician provides direct support to these systems and their operators, serving as a subject‑matter expert for system modification, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities- Install, repair, maintain, and modify factory automated control systems, equipment, and network/software interfaces.
- Provide immediate on‑site support to manufacturing and packaging operations.
- Maintain day‑to‑day operation of automated systems, including automated data gathering, databases, electronic batch records, historians, report generation, PLCs, HMIs, and instrumentation.
- Support automation projects, including design, configuration of new systems, and updates to existing systems as directed by site engineers.
- Assist production maintenance technicians and facilities technicians in monitoring, managing, and troubleshooting automated systems.
- Use a high degree of care and skill to prevent injury to personnel or damage to equipment.
- Ensure compliance with GMP and SOP policies, documenting all work performed.
- Stay current with new automation technologies and industry practices, recommending adoption to enhance effectiveness.
- Adhere to all company health, safety, environmental guidelines and quality compliance standards.
- Associate’s degree in a related discipline or equivalent technical certifications.
- 3 years of relevant work experience as an automation technician, maintenance electrician, or line operation technician.
- Basic understanding of Windows operating systems.
- 1–3 years of experience in management and support of manufacturing automated systems.
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley/Rockwell Automation products.
- Knowledge of electrical system installation and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of instrumentation, PLCs, and HMIs.
- Basic understanding of domain/active directory, network switch configuration, SQL database viewing, software operation, and IT support.
Lincoln, NE – Monday to Friday, 10:30PM to 7:00AM; rotating weekends as required.
