Maintenance Specialist I

Lincoln, NE | Salary: $21.836

Administrative Services Building Division

Job Duties
  • Maintain the physical plant through repairs and preventive maintenance.
  • Perform carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, groundskeeping and other skilled trades work.
  • Schedule and perform specialized preventive maintenance and repairs for equipment, systems, and machinery to ensure necessary inspection, adjustment and replacement of parts.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of all stock and commonly used maintenance parts.
  • Complete duties as assigned with or without supervision.
  • Other duties within the scope of the classification.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Minimum:
    Associate’s degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, industrial engineering, HVAC, welding, or other building trade.
  • Experience in building maintenance, a mechanical trade, or performing safety inspections, investigations or training may be substituted for education on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Preferred:
    Certification/Completion Diploma in applicable maintenance trade(s); licensed in one or more applicable maintenance fields.
  • Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.
Work Hours

Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm, including rotating on‑call work.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and building maintenance equipment.
  • Basic office and computer skills, including use of email and building system applications.
  • Operation and preservation of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Use of basic grounds‑keeping equipment.
