Schedule:

Flexible 40 hr./week schedule. Must be available to work with the family as their schedule allows including non-traditional business hours such as some evenings and weekends

Program Summary

Community Youth Coachingis  a youth-guided, family-driven service designed to provide an innovative, strength-based, supportive and individualized alternative to detention. The program works to strengthen communitysafety through intensive relationship building, skill building, and positive youth development. We aim to collaborate with the family in coaching and guiding the youthto influence positive behavior change. This position will include working directly with families in the home and community and will require some travel to meet the needs of families throughout Lincoln and Lancaster County.

The Family Partner will work collaboratively as part of larger team of Family Partners serving families throughout Southeast Nebraska.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct-care and individualized coachingin the natural communities and homes of youthand their families
  • Provide frequent, meaningful, and intentional contact with assigned youthto develop a mentoring relationship and influence positive behavior change
  • Facilitate assessment and service planning with the youthand family
  • Provide guidance, teach and model skills to help support the needs of the youthand/or family
  • Provide transportation to support service delivery (e.g., court, school, probation appointments, job interviews, or other goal-related activities), but CYC is not a transportation service.
  • Document all aspects of service delivery and monitoring of service outcomes in a professional and timely manner
  • Assist the youthand family in the identification and access of informal supports and other community-based resources

Requirements

  • Preferred:
    Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology or closely related field, but consideration will be given to all applicants including those without a degree
  • Preferred: 2 years of experience working with children and families and/or other work related experience
  • Valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Flexible with your schedule to maximize youth engagement and minimize disruptions to their daily responsibilities. This may include meeting with youth before or after school, after work, following extracurricular activities or practices, or on weekends when appropriate and what best meets the youth's needs and support consistent engagement.
  • Must have a genuine interest in and concern for all youthand families
  • Strong relationship skills, organizational and communication skills
  • Prior experience working collaboratively as part of a case management team with children and families
  • Autonomous worker who can manage time wisely
Education Requirements (All)
  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred
