SummaryThe Heavy Equipment/Fleet Specialist supports the tracking, reporting, and coordination of equipment/fleet activities. This role is critical to maintaining equipment readiness, compliance, and efficiency across our operations. Reliable attendance is required. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Develops and maintains internal charge‑out rates for trucks, trailers and heavy equipment
- Aligns rates with true cost of ownership (acquisition, financing, depreciation, insurance, fuel, maintenance, and overhead).
- Works with accounting and operations to ensure equipment usage is properly costed to jobs/projects.
- Partners with fleet maintenance to ensure preventive maintenance schedules reduce breakdowns and costs.
- Works with dispatch/logistics to improve equipment utilization.
- Tracks recurring inspections for equipment/fleet, certifications, and regulatory requirements.
- Delivers monthly reporting on fleet KPIs to leadership.
- Assists with preventative maintenance and equipment scheduling.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field (MBA preferred); and
- 5-10 years of experience in equipment finance, fleet management, or construction logistics.; or
- equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable under company insurance.
- Strong modeling and data analysis skills (Excel, ERP, fleet management software).
- Familiarity with heavy highway or construction equipment.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance and inspection programs.
- Able to regularly lift/handle/carry materials or product of moderate weight (10-20 lbs.)
- Must wear appropriate safety protective equipment—steel toed shoes
