Briggs, Inc. of Omaha is a privately held plumbing and lighting distributor for commercial, residential, remodel, pump and well, and service contractors, with operations in Nebraska, Iowa, and Kansas.
Job ObjectiveRoute Driver will deliver material to customer shops and job sites in a safe and prompt manner.
Pay Range$17.00 – $21.00 per hour.
Responsibilities- Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip safety inspections to comply with Department of Transportation regulations.
- Maintain truck for safe operation, cleanliness, and proper fuel levels.
- Load and unload material on the truck.
- Secure material to the truck before moving.
- Verify order accuracy.
- Develop efficient delivery routes to customer shops and job sites.
- Communicate effectively with customers.
- Report delivery or material problems to the Branch Manager.
- Notify the Branch Manager of any truck/equipment failure or vehicle accidents.
- Receive training on the safe usage of warehouse equipment.
- Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts.
- Assist in cleaning and maintenance of the warehouse.
- Stock material in racks and bins when requested.
- Assist in pulling orders for delivery or shipping.
- Assist in receiving as needed.
- Assist in counting physical inventory.
- Perform duties as requested by branch management; activities may vary based on branch size and operations.

Route Driver will lift objects weighing 20–50 pounds regularly and occasionally lift objects weighing over 100 pounds. Must climb ladders, stairs, and ramps; balance; push and pull; crouch and kneel; grasp objects; and have hearing sufficient to perceive sounds with or without correction.
Vision RequirementsMinimum vision required to prevent injury to oneself and others.
Job StandardsRoute Driver must comply with all OSHA regulations, local and state traffic safety and licensing requirements, DOT regulations, and Briggs Inc. policies, rules, and safety regulations. Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical skills is required.
Location & ExposuresRoute Driver activities occur both indoors and outdoors. The position may involve exposure to extreme cold and heat, high noise levels, vibrations, moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, high places, chemicals, and various atmospheric conditions that could affect respiratory health or the skin.
Equipment UsedDelivery truck, forklift, hand truck, order picker, tow motor, shrink wrap machine, pallet jack, dock loader, cherry picker, band machine, wire cutter, band cutter, razor cutter, tape gun, rolling ladder, lift gate, and staple gun.
Attendance RequirementsRegular, consistent attendance is mandatory.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED.
- 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to work independently and accept direction for assignments.
- Daily customer contact requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment.
