Roadside Assistance Technicians are part of our Emergency Roadside Assistance team, providing peace of mind to members by diagnosing vehicle problems and delivering on‑the‑spot solutions. Members rely on their expertise to safely get back onto the road.
ResponsibilitiesIn this role you will:
- Operate a full‑size or mini service truck or tow truck and related equipment to assist members, employees and other motorists.
- Utilize GPS and maps to locate member breakdown locations.
- Perform vehicle services such as providing fuel, testing and replacing batteries, jump‑starting, lockout service, and changing/inflating flat tires.
- Arrange for or tow a member’s vehicle when it cannot be started or is unsafe to drive.
- Ensure 100 % member satisfaction through excellent customer service.
- Offer value to members through on‑the‑go towing or battery testing/sales.
- Provide support at special events such as parades, travel shows, Car Care or public relations events.
- High school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver’s license.
- 21 years of age or older.
- Valid state driver’s license with minimal driving infractions or incidents.
- If employed in Illinois, a valid Illinois C‑Non CDL driver’s license is required.
- Experience using tablets or electronic devices to update calls, review policies, document safety records and complete other duties.
- Strong customer‑service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with members.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Successful completion of drug screening, MVR, criminal background check and DOT health screenings (pre‑employment and ongoing).
- Experience servicing vehicles with fuel, battery testing/ replacement, jump‑starting, lockout service, and flat‑tire work.
- Prior tow truck driver or roadside service experience.
- Capability to safely operate a wheel lift, flatbed, dolly towing equipment and a full‑size or mini service vehicle, and commercial driving experience.
- Hourly rates starting at $23.00 in Nebraska (pay may exceed starting rate based on experience).
- Overtime earning potential at time and a half the hourly wage.
- Shift premiums: 5 % for hours between 5 pm and 11 pm, 10 % for hours between 11 pm and 5 am.
- $1,000 sign‑on bonus (paid 90 days and 180 days).

Provides roadside service to AAA members. Works primarily outdoors with frequent exposure to road hazards and extreme temperatures: up to 95 % of work time outside and less than 5 % in a temperature‑controlled office.
