Position SummaryWe are seeking a Tanker Truck Driver to operate gasoline or diesel-powered tractor trailer combinations to transport and deliver product and/or materials to various plants in Lincoln and surrounding areas. Must abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Drive truck to destination applying commercial driving (DOT) regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations.
- Secure loads to flatbed trailer using straps, chains & tarps.
- Inspect truck for defects before and after trips and submit report indicating truck condition.
- Maintain driver log according to DOT regulations.
- Inspect truck equipment and supplies, such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
- May perform emergency roadside repairs, such as changing tires or tire chains.
- Assist workers, sometimes by operating forklift, to load and unload trucks.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- One year trailer tractor or related commercial vehicle driving experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement
- Must be able to work according to seasonal and order demand schedule.
- Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few variables in standardized situations.
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. This is a tobacco free campus and work environment.
