Assistant Project Manager – General Contractor
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Assistant Project Manager provides project-level support for commercial construction initiatives by assisting with coordination, documentation, safety oversight, communication, and cost tracking. This position works alongside project leadership to support execution from early planning through final closeout, helping maintain alignment with schedule, quality, and safety objectives.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Project Support & Coordination- Assist with tracking and updating project schedules and milestones
- Participate in site walks, coordination efforts, and progress reviews
- Help ensure materials, equipment, and long-lead items are procured and delivered in accordance with project needs
- Support permitting, inspections, and agency coordination activities
- Maintain current project documentation, including drawings and logs
- Support implementation of project-specific safety plans
- Coordinate with field staff to reinforce jobsite safety expectations
- Participate in periodic safety inspections and documentation efforts
- Assist with tracking observations and corrective actions
- Maintain project logs including submittals, RFIs, change requests, and contingency items
- Track open items and support follow-up to drive timely resolution
- Assist with preparation of meeting agendas and presentation materials
- Document and distribute meeting notes from regular project meetings
- Support internal coordination and reporting activities
- Assist with preparation of progress billings and supporting documentation
- Support payment tracking and follow-up activities
- Assist with scope review and subcontract development
- Support change management processes, including pricing and documentation
- Assist with subcontractor payment review and processing
- Support punch list tracking and project closeout documentation
- Assist with final inspections and turnover activities
- Compile warranties, operation manuals, and required closeout materials
- Provide support for estimating or proposal efforts as needed, including subcontractor outreach and bid organization
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related discipline
- 1–3 years of experience supporting commercial construction project teams
- OSHA 10 certification
- Familiarity with construction management software and standard office tools
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and technical documentation
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
