Blackstone Valley Prep (BVP) is an intentionally diverse network of tuition‑free public charter schools across Central Falls, Cumberland, Lincoln and Pawtucket. BVP’s mission is to prepare every scholar to achieve their goals for college and the world beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Create an environment of respect and rapport.
  • Establish a culture of learning that reflects the educational importance of the work undertaken by scholars and teachers.
  • Establish and monitor routines and procedures for smooth classroom operation and efficient use of time.
  • Manage scholar behavior to allow for high levels of engagement with content.
  • Model precise and expressive language to communicate expectations, directions, and content explanations.
  • Use questions, prompts, and discussion techniques to challenge scholars cognitively, advance high‑level thinking, promote metacognition.
  • Intellectually engage scholars through well‑designed tasks that require complex thinking and scaffold appropriately.
  • Utilize formative and summative assessments to drive instructional planning, monitor learning, give feedback, and facilitate self‑monitoring.
  • Act on the belief that every scholar can succeed in college and beyond.
  • Embrace diversity, foster respect and inclusion, and build an equitable community.
  • Cultivate scholars’ social and personal skills for a complex world.
  • Be results‑driven with excellent planning and organization, a "do whatever it takes" attitude, and strong work ethic.

Qualifications & Certifications
  • A minimum of two years teaching experience in a diverse public school setting is preferred, but not required.
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Bilingual candidates are preferred, but not required.
  • Successful applicants must hold a valid Rhode Island teacher certification by date of hire (reciprocity available from over 30 states).
  • CPI certification and relevant field certification (if applicable).
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
