Work Schedule
- Level 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 on Monday/Wednesday and/or Tuesday/Thursday from 6:30pm - 8:30pm and/or Saturdays 9am-1pm in the Providence and Lincoln campuses.
- Level 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 on Monday/Wednesday and/or Tuesday/Thursday 10am – 12pm in the Lincoln campus.
- Level 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 on Monday/Wednesday and/or Tuesday/Thursday 10am – 12pm online.
This is a 4- to 8-hour/week position.
Job SummaryThe non-credit English Language Studies (ELS) program at CCRI assists individuals who need to begin or expand their English language skills in order to succeed in their studies and careers. Students come from a wide range of countries, educational levels, and language backgrounds. Focus is given to developing integrated skills in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Duties and Responsibilities- Engage in high-quality language instruction in a diverse, inclusive, student-centered environment
- Ability to work with students with various learning styles, cultures, and life experiences both online and in person.
- Prepare effective lesson plans and provide supplemental material to achieve course objectives and address student needs
- Integrate technology and active learning strategies to enhance instruction
- Keep detailed and organized records of students’ attendance, assessments, and progress, including a final evaluation
- Collaborate with the coordinator and other instructors in the program and attend meetings as needed in person and online.
- Demonstrate a commitment to professional development in adult education
- Bachelor's degree in TESOL, education, ESL, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
- Demonstrated experience teaching language in an educational setting
- Curriculum/course development experience with a demonstrated high level of preparation and attention to detail
- Knowledge of successful strategies for classroom management, especially in terms of linguistically and culturally diverse student
- Understanding of the challenges adult learners face.
- Experience working with students from different academic and cultural backgrounds.
- Creativity and flexibility in the classroom are expected.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Comfortable with technology and course management systems.
- Proficient in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint primarily), Outlook, Zoom, and the internet for instructional and programmatic purposes.
