** Prysmian Group is seeking a
** hands-on innovator and change champion
** with deep expertise in
** rubber and polymer materials
** to join our Product Development team. Reporting to the
** Product Development Manager**, you will play a critical role in advancing our materials technology, formulation development and supporting the
** growth of high-performance cable solutions**.In this role, you will collaborate with internal teams and customers to
** understand application needs and engineer advanced rubber compounds
** that drive product performance, reliability, and manufacturability.
** What You’ll Do
** As a Rubber Materials Chemist, you will own
** end-to-end development of elastomer-based solutions**, from concept through commercialization:
* Design, develop, and optimize
** rubber and elastomeric compounds
** for advanced applications
* Conduct
** applied research and formulation work
** to improve material properties such as flexibility, durability, thermal resistance, and electrical performance
* Lead
** new product development (NPD)
** initiatives, including requirement gathering, testing, validation, and commercialization
* Modify and enhance existing
** rubber formulations
** to improve product functionality, cost-efficiency, and performance
* Plan and execute
** laboratory experiments**, pilot trials, and production-scale validations
* Analyze mechanical, thermal, and electrical test data to
** drive material improvements and innovation
*** Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to
** successfully launch new products
*** Support
** new product introduction (NPI)
** and continuous improvement initiatives across business segments
* Develop detailed
** technical documentation, formulations, and specifications
** for manufacturing scale-up
* Stay at the forefront of advancements in
** rubber compounding, elastomer chemistry, and materials science
**** What You Bring
**** Required Qualifications
*** Bachelor’s degree in
** Chemical Engineering, Polymer/Materials Science, Chemistry**, or related field
* ** 3+ years
** of experience in
** rubber compounding, elastomer development, or materials engineering
*** Strong understanding of
** rubber formulation, additives, fillers, curing systems, and processing
*** Experience working in
** cross-functional teams
** in a manufacturing or product development environment
* Passion for developing
** high-performance, cost-effective materials
** that drive business success
** Preferred Qualifications**
* ** 3–7 years
** of hands-on experience in
** rubber or polymer product development
*** Experience supporting
** lab, pilot, and production trials
** in an industrial setting
* Knowledge of applications such as
** cable insulation, jacketing, or industrial elastomers
*** Familiarity with
** material testing methods (mechanical, rheological, thermal, electrical)
**** Work Environment
*** Combination of
** lab, pilot, and office environments
*** Hands-on work with compounding equipment and testing instruments
* Ability to lift
** 10–25 lbs regularly
** and up to
** 30 lbs occasionally
*** Fast-paced, collaborative environment requiring adaptability and problem-solving
