Overview

Job Summary: The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound studies, demonstrating expertise in Level 1 ultrasounds including growth and doppler scans. Competency in Level 2 obstetrical ultrasound procedures and NT is preferred. If hired without Level 2 experience or NT certification, it is the expectation that the new hire will demonstrate competency in Level 2 scans and certification after six months of training within the department.

Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use and application of ultrasound equipment. The Ultrasound Technologist assesses the findings in the ultrasound examinations and assists the MFM physicians in interpreting the ultrasound studies. Maintains associated records for ultrasound studies, and coordinates quality assurance activities including cleaning and maintenance of equipment. Flexes between offsite locations as needed by department with a minimum of one week advanced notice to cover vacations and leave of absence.

Will be asked on occasion to flex to other offsite to cover if someone has called out. Primary location for employee will be PDC Providence.

• Perform diagnostic ultrasound studies, including Level 1 ultrasound with growth and doppler scans.
• Maintain proficiency or obtain competency in Level 2 obstetrical ultrasound procedures and NT as required or within six months of hire.
• Assess findings and assist MFM physicians in interpreting studies.
• Maintain records for ultrasound studies and coordinate quality assurance activities, including equipment cleaning and maintenance.
• Interface with department locations, with at least one week notice for schedule changes; cover offsite locations as needed.

• Completion of a one or two year program or certified training course, followed by certification examination.
• Registry with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and certification in OBGYN is required.
• Competent in scanning pregnant women in the first, second, and third trimesters, including targeted anatomic survey (Level 2 scans and NT after six months of training upon hire within the department).
• Proficient in the English language.
