Overview
Prysmian Group is seeking a hands‑on innovator and change champion with deep expertise in rubber and polymer materials to join our Product Development team. Reporting to the Product Development Manager, you will play a critical role in advancing our materials technology, formulation development, and supporting the growth of high‑performance cable solutions.
Responsibilities- Own end‑to‑end development of elastomer‑based solutions, from concept through commercialization.
- Design, develop, and optimize rubber and elastomeric compounds for advanced applications.
- Conduct applied research and formulation work to improve material properties such as flexibility, durability, thermal resistance, and electrical performance.
- Lead new product development (NPD) initiatives, including requirement gathering, testing, validation, and commercialization.
- Modify and enhance existing rubber formulations to improve product functionality, cost‑efficiency, and performance.
- Plan and execute laboratory experiments, pilot trials, and production‑scale validations.
- Analyze mechanical, thermal, and electrical test data to drive material improvements and innovation.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, and commercial teams to successfully launch new products.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement initiatives across business segments.
- Develop detailed technical documentation, formulations, and specifications for manufacturing scale‑up.
- Stay at the forefront of advancements in rubber compounding, elastomer chemistry, and materials science.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer/Materials Science, Chemistry, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in rubber compounding, elastomer development, or materials engineering.
- Strong understanding of rubber formulation, additives, fillers, curing systems, and processing.
- Experience working in cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing or product development environment.
- Passion for developing high‑performance, cost‑effective materials that drive business success.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3–7 years of hands‑on experience in rubber or polymer product development.
- Experience supporting lab, pilot, and production trials in an industrial setting.
- Knowledge of applications such as cable insulation, jacketing, or industrial elastomers.
- Familiarity with material testing methods (mechanical, rheological, thermal, electrical).
- Combination of lab, pilot, and office environments.
- Hands‑on work with compounding equipment and testing instruments.
- Ability to lift 10–25 lbs regularly and up to 30 lbs occasionally.
- Fast‑paced, collaborative environment requiring adaptability and problem‑solving.
- Occasional travel as required.
