GeneralDescription
Our mechanics maintain and service the mechanical equipment, machinery, and all components. They must be able to perform skilled repair services of mechanical, electrical, and equipment. The Electrician/Mechanic Level 4 has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job, including repairing conveyor belts, motors, and other factory equipment. This position will also be our primary Electrician for the plant with assistance from outside vendors.
Duties & Responsibilities- Observe and diagnose equipment for repair
- Disassemble factory machinery and equipment to remove parts and make repairs
- Conduct daily rounds and inspections to evaluate requests for repair
- May complete boiler water testing
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly preventive maintenance and service on factory equipment
- Follow instruction from manager/supervisor
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Examine parts for defects such as breakage and excessive wear
- Reassemble after completion of inspection
- Repair and replace broken or malfunctioning components of machinery and equipment
- Operate newly repaired equipment to verify adequacy of repairs
- Thoroughly clean, lubricate, and adjust parts, equipment and machinery
- Oil and lubricate moving parts on machines to ensure effective performance
- Record maintenance repairs performed
- Work independently within established procedures
- Meet strict deadlines
- Promote and work within established safety, quality, and food safety procedures
- Must be 18 years or older
- Works well independently and with others
- RI Electrician's License or ability to obtain RI Electrician's license within 90 days
- 3+ years’ experience as a maintenance mechanic
- Reading comprehension, mathematics, and writing
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Organized with attention to detail
- Competent in conveyor belts, hydraulics, welding and fabrication
- Experience with industrial sized ovens, manual proofers, automatic proofers, and mixer equipment (a plus)
- Electrical control and troubleshooting
- PLC troubleshooting
- Bend to grasp objects and climb ladders
- Bend and lift loads not to exceed 50 pounds unassisted or 100 pounds with assistance
- Work in very hot temperatures (>90°F) seasonally
- Must be able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends, evenings, and holidays
- Operate in a noisy environment with exposure to wheat flour and gluten
- Use hands for handling, controlling, or feeling objects, tools or controls and be able to stand, kneel, crouch, walk, stoop, bend, twist, or crawl
- Work in cramped work spaces without difficulties getting into uncomfortable positions
- Expose to high places and hazardous equipment and positions
