Description

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to work closely with the CFO to ensure the accuracy and integrity of accounting and financial data across our organization and subsidiaries. This hands-on role requires strong technical accounting knowledge, GAAP expertise, and the ability to manage day-to-day accounting operations while supporting strategic financial reporting and analysis. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and thrives in a collaborative environment where they can make an immediate impact with potential grow into a Controller opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage month-end closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed assets, prepaid(s) and accruals, revenue recognition and

financial statement preparation.

-Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and preparing financial statements

-Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual audited financial statements for subsidiary companies

-Conduct account analysis and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepancies

-Manage fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals, and revenue recognition in accordance with GAAP

-Prepare budgets and forecasts to support strategic planning initiatives

-Provide ongoing financial reporting and analysis to support management decision-making

-Deliver actionable insights through variance analysis and financial modeling

-Prepare all work papers and documentation for external auditors during annual audits

-Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal, state, and local financial regulations and tax laws

-Establish, monitor, and enforce internal controls to protect company assets

-Partner with other departments to provide accounting support and guidance on financial matters (hands-on approach)

-Work effectively with the CFO, colleagues, and external stakeholders to maintain constructive working relationships

-Participate in special projects and initiatives as needed

-Ability to work in small team, collaborative environment

- Location:

Lincolnshire, IL 60069 (100% onsite)

- Schedule:

Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm

Salary: $100,000-$120,000 + potential discretionary bonus

Requirements

Requirements:

-Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

-5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or senior accounting role

-Strong hands-on knowledge of accounting operations and GAAP (essential)

-Experience managing month-end close, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliations

-Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Access) and financial/accounting software

-Experience preparing for and supporting external audits

-Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail

-Ability to prioritize responsibilities, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines

-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a professional demeanor

-Strong ERP experience (Sage preferred)

-Experience in manufacturing environment preferred

-Multi-entity or subsidiary consolidation a plus
