Position: Venture Capital Job – Senior Investment Associate – Zebra Technologies

About the role

Zebra Technologies is seeking a Senior Investment Associate for the company’s Corporate Development/Ventures team. This role is responsible for supporting the Corporate Ventures lead and Corporate Development team in sourcing, evaluating, and executing minority investments in early to mid‑stage technology companies that align with Zebra’s strategic priorities. The Senior Investment Associate will play a key role in all aspects of the investment process, from market research and due diligence to deal structuring and portfolio management.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Zebra’s growth strategy by identifying and partnering with innovative startups.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Corporate Ventures Lead, this role is accountable for but not limited to:

  • Market Research and Sourcing:
    Conduct thorough market research to identify emerging technologies, industry trends, and potential investment opportunities aligned with Zebra’s strategic priorities. Source and evaluate early to mid‑stage technology companies that fit Zebra’s investment criteria, including conducting initial screening calls and meetings.
  • Due Diligence:
    Lead and support comprehensive due diligence on prospective investment targets, including financial analysis, market validation, technology assessment, competitive landscape analysis, and management team evaluation. Collaborate with internal stakeholders (e.g., product, engineering, finance, legal) to assess strategic fit, technical feasibility, and potential synergies.
  • Financial Modeling and Valuation:
    Develop detailed financial models and valuation analyses to assess investment attractiveness and potential returns. Assist in structuring investment terms, including deal valuation, equity stakes, and governance rights.
  • Investment Execution:
    Prepare investment memos and presentations for internal review and approval, articulating investment rationale, risks, and potential returns. Support negotiations with target companies and legal counsel to finalize investment agreements and terms.
  • Portfolio Management:
    Monitor the performance of existing portfolio companies, track key metrics, and provide ongoing support to help them achieve their strategic milestones. Maintain relationships with portfolio company management teams and facilitate collaboration opportunities between portfolio companies and Zebra’s business units. Prepare regular updates on portfolio performance and strategic impact for senior leadership.
  • Ecosystem Engagement:
    Represent Zebra in the venture capital ecosystem, attend industry events, and build relationships with VCs, entrepreneurs, and other key stakeholders. Contribute to the development and refinement of Zebra’s corporate ventures strategy and investment thesis.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in venture capital, corporate ventures, private equity, investment banking, or corporate development with a focus on technology investments.
  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, with experience in building complex financial models and conducting investment analysis.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough due diligence and assess investment opportunities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Passion for technology and innovation, with a deep understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with enterprise software, hardware, IoT, AI/ML, or robotics technologies.
  • Prior experience in a corporate ventures or corporate development role within a large technology company.
