Most Tax Managers don't leave because they've forgotten how to prepare a tax return.
They leave because somewhere along the way, they stopped feeling like an accountant and started feeling like a bottleneck.
Review. Sign off. Repeat.
If the reason you got into public accounting was to solve problems, build relationships and become someone clients actually call for advice, this firm has managed to preserve exactly that.
Their clients are privately owned businesses, real estate groups and investment entities. The technical work is certainly there, but it's only part of the job. The interesting bit is helping business owners make better decisions throughout the year, not just at filing deadlines.
You’ll get to know your clients well enough that you’ll understand where they’re trying to get to, not just where they were last April.
Why people tend to enjoy working here:Busy season is capped at around 55 hours, and they have open PTO, with leadership encouraging people to actually take time off.
They work with complex, privately held businesses where planning and advisory work are just as important as compliance, in a collaborative environment where Partners remain approachable and involved.
They have clear progression towards Senior Manager, Director, and ultimately Partner, with continued investment in technology to make the work better, not simply faster.
