Data Center Operations / Windows Server Support Analyst
Contract
This role supports Windows Server and network operations in a data center. The analyst will provide support for several business units, utilizing contractor skills to meet the client’s IT organization goals and develop skills in Unix and Windows platforms for future growth.
The analyst will manage day‑to‑day operations with a typical workload: 50% queue support/incident management, 25% project/problem management, 15% tape management, 10% document development (reports and processes). The position may cover 2nd, 3rd, or weekend shifts.
Responsibilities- Maintain network performance through monitoring and analysis (training provided)
- Troubleshoot network issues and performance tuning (training provided)
- Escalate and coordinate network support incidents or requests to vendors
- Tape management / backup and recovery operations, including Storage Tek silo operations and off‑site tape processing
- Assist administrators with data center operational tasks such as hardware changes, application processes, and incident recovery tasks
- Perform after‑hours tasks such as cabling, rack assembly, and server hardware replacement
- Replace redundant drives and power supplies as requested by on‑call administrators and assist with root‑cause efforts
- Develop and update documentation and reports
- Support data center monitoring tools (SCOM, Nagios)
- Support desktop management tools (SCCM, OSD)
- Assist remote support personnel internationally with monitoring tool support and problem analysis
- Manage Windows technologies incident management
- Monitor data center system conditions and perform escalations; coordinate vendor dispatch access within secure areas
- Assist with problem/incident management and service requests for the Unix/Windows environment (Level 2 tool support)
- Utilize personal computing hardware, software, word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications for documentation, reporting, and scheduling
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 2 years Windows Server administration
- Minimum 1 year Windows Server support
- Minimum 1 year network infrastructure support
- Minimum 2 years tape management / backup and recovery operations
- Minimum 2 years command center operations
- Minimum 2 years in service delivery
- Knowledge of network infrastructure concepts and monitoring tools
- Basic Unix administration skills
- Basic Windows/Unix command‑line skills
- Basic to intermediate Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- Strong communication skills to explain technical issues to non‑technical people
- Demonstrated customer interaction and teamwork competencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work off‑shift (2nd, 3rd, or weekend shifts)
