The Supplier Quality Engineer position works directly with suppliers in China & other parts of Asia. The position will be responsible for analyzing manufacturing processes using various methods of testing and inspection. The Supplier Quality Engineer will use various quality methods (Six Sigma, LEAN) to work with suppliers and ensure that root cause and corrective actions are effective to guarantee product quality.

In addition, the position will provide technical support and guidance to suppliers to solve technical issues and improve the supplier base.

Responsibilities
  • Liaison between Asian suppliers & Klein USA.
  • Manage non-conformances by suppliers and part numbers that pertain to Asia.
  • Expedite failure analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Analyze return data, non-conformance data, and uncover trends or emerging issues.
  • Resolve recurring issues (related to a given Asian supplier).
  • Participate in new product introductions and cost reduction projects to ensure high quality.
  • Perform site visits to determine supplier capability and scalability.
  • Perform supplier audits to qualify new suppliers and improve existing suppliers.
  • Schedule quality reviews with suppliers to review warranty, CAR, and NPI data on a regular basis.
  • Provide technical support, advice, and corrective actions on product related issues to the supplier.
  • Perform problem analysis with follow-up and prepare technical reports.
  • Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing, and inspection.
  • Prepare issue reports for management & headquarters on a regular basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related discipline or a related field with a minimum of 4 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment.
  • In addition, candidates must be able to communicate (written and oral) in English and Mandarin.
  • Fluent in Cantonese and frequently travel to China/Asia suppliers and work at suppliers’ factory is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is also required.
  • Qualified candidates must be trained in general safety and quality system awareness, familiar with quality control concepts and best practices, and able to use a corrective action system to monitor issues.
  • Also, candidates must be proficient in using measuring instruments (e.g. calipers, micrometers, optical comparators and CMM's), have experience auditing suppliers, have the ability to create and issue audit report and following up on audit findings, and have experience auditing and improving electronic and machined product manufacturers.
  • The ability to work & effectively communicate with all levels of management and lead teams and be results oriented with a positive attitude as well as a good team player is required to be successful in this role.
