As an Advanced Embedded Engineer at Honeywell, you will drive the design and development of sophisticated, embedded software solutions that power innovative industrial automation technologies. You will leverage your expertise to solve complex technical challenges and contribute to cutting‑edge projects that enhance process industry operations, improve safety, and increase productivity. This role reports directly to the Director of Engineering, Center of Excellence group, based in Lincolnshire, IL, with a hybrid work schedule.
You will impact embedded software that integrates seamlessly with hardware components, enabling smarter, safer, and more efficient industrial automation systems for customers worldwide.
- Design, develop, and test embedded software solutions for industrial automation applications.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including hardware and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration.
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues in embedded systems using strong problem‑solving and debugging skills.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of software development processes and methodologies.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
- Optimize system performance, memory usage, and power consumption.
- Review and improve code quality through design reviews, code reviews, and testing practices.
- Develop automated tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines for embedded systems.
- 6+ years of experience in design and development of embedded software solutions.
- Strong expertise in programming languages such as C and C++, with mastery in embedded software development.
- Deep understanding of hardware and software integration in embedded systems.
- Experience with debugging tools and methodologies to troubleshoot complex embedded software issues.
- Knowledge of real‑time operating systems and embedded software testing procedures.
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Experience working in industrial automation or process control domains.
- Familiarity with industry best practices and emerging embedded technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
- Passion for innovation, continuous learning, and attention to detail.
