- Analyze, develop, design, program, debug, and implement embedded systems for the organization’s products and systems.
- Develop testing and troubleshooting strategies, devices, and systems for firmware.
- Integrate firmware to maintain functionality, throughput and consistency.
- Develop user documentation.
- Establish, implement, and maintain embedded firmware for the organization’s Thermal printer products and solutions.
- Research, design and develop new technology for platform in support of organization’s strategy vision.
- Grow competency on a wide range of product framework, HALs, Linux kernel drivers from peripheral and network communication, and real time controls, and be the go-to person for questions.
- Lead requirements meetings for moderately complex firmware design projects.
- Complete all phases of moderately complex firmware design projects.
- Review firmware test results and root cause analysis.
- Resolve highly complex technical issues.
- Review changes or upgrades to existing firmware designs.
- Develop new solutions to unique problems.
- Identify issues, and make recommendations for complex problems.
- Make modifications to or upgrade existing firmware designs via patches and generating new code.
- Enhance and improve existing technologies to apply to new solutions.
- Develop positive relationships with other company functions involved in the design, test, and implementation processes.
- Make recommendations to immediate team to enhance performance and improve product quality.
- Exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
- Advance internal processes to improve efficiency and performance on executions.
- Hybrid position: works on-site in Lincolnshire, IL minimum 3 days per week.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields) with 6+ years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in engineering with 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Significant experience delivering platform product embedded firmware development and proven experience in programming languages C/C++, along with ARM architecture, embedded microcontroller architecture, multi‑core systems, RTOS, embedded Linux, file systems, storage memory, networking, platform libraries, etc.
- Skills in platform architecture, object‑oriented programming, software design patterns, and device driver development.
- Development experience in I2C, SPI, UART, USB, CAN, Modbus, WLAN, PWM, ADC, Bluetooth, Ethernet, and other microcontroller peripherals.
- Good knowledge of oscilloscopes, bus analyzers, emulators, and other firmware debugging tools.
- Familiarity with electrical interfaces, schematic diagrams, component specifications, and datasheets.
- Strong understanding of embedded RTOS and POSIX implementation including scheduling policies, synchronization methods, interrupt service routines, external library integration, file systems, and memory allocation.
- Preferred experience with stepper motors, MQTT, network, and security.
- Participation in Agile (SCRUM/KANBAN) development processes; prototype board bring-up, boot loader development, ARMCC toolchain experience.

Compensation & BenefitsPay Range: $96,800.00 – $ per year.
Annual Incentive Compensation:
Target equal to 10% of base pay.
