Principal. Salary:
Teacher State Salary Schedule (plus local supplement). FLSA status: EXEMPT.

• Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license in the appropriate licensure area.
• Dual certification preferred.
• Will accept K-6 applicants willing to meet licensure requirements.

To help each pupil develop competence in basic mathematical skills and an understanding of the structure of mathematics; to motivate each pupil to apply mathematical understanding and skills in the solution of practical problems; and to encourage pupils to develop their special talents in the field of mathematics.

• Teach courses in mathematics to secondary pupils using the course of study adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district.
• Develop lesson plans and appropriate instructional aids stressing discovery and laboratory learning methods.
• Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, chalkboard, overhead projector, calculators, computers, and other standard or teacher‑prepared instructional aids.
• Provide opportunities when needed for individualized and small‑group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil.
• Design learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world.
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment.
• Evaluate each pupil’s progress in mathematical knowledge and skills.
• Select and requisition books, instructional aids, and instructional supplies; maintain required inventory records.
• Communicate with parents to interpret contemporary methods in teaching mathematics and with parents and school counselors to discuss the individual pupil’s progress.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Supervise pupils in out‑of‑classroom activities during the assigned work day.
• Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs.
• Share in the sponsorship of student activities such as math teams, and participate in faculty committees.
• Maintain professional competence through in‑service education activities provided by the district, and in self‑selected professional growth activities.
• Must be able to perform heavy work exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to lift objects.
• Other duties as assigned.
