Position Overview
Birch Agency is seeking two dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to support students in school-based settings in Lincolnton, North Carolina. These opportunities offer educators the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing individualized academic, behavioral, and developmental support to students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals and educational needs.
- Provide differentiated instruction to students with varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
- Deliver specialized instruction in separate classroom settings supporting students on extended content standards.
- Manage a classroom caseload of approximately 8 students with support from 2 teacher assistants.
- Implement positive behavior supports and effective classroom management strategies.
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and compliance records.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
- Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to support individualized learning and functional skill development.
- Foster a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student achievement and independence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field preferred
- Active North Carolina Special Education teaching certification required (or ability to obtain through reciprocity/provisional pathways).
- Experience working with students with moderate/severe disabilities or extended content standards preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Passion for supporting students with diverse educational and behavioral needs.
- Ability to maintain compliance timelines and accurate educational documentation.
- School-based setting with opportunities in both elementary and high school separate classrooms.
- Small classroom environment with approximately 8 students and 2 teacher assistants per classroom.
- Collaborative team environment with support from administrators and related service providers.
- Structured educational setting focused on student growth, independence, and individualized support.
