Position Overview

Birch Agency is seeking two dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teachers to support students in school-based settings in Lincolnton, North Carolina. These opportunities offer educators the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing individualized academic, behavioral, and developmental support to students with diverse learning needs.

Special Education Teacher

Lincolnton, NC 28093

Full-time, school-based

• Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with student goals and educational needs.
• Provide differentiated instruction to students with varying academic, behavioral, and developmental needs.
• Deliver specialized instruction in separate classroom settings supporting students on extended content standards.
• Manage a classroom caseload of approximately 8 students with support from 2 teacher assistants.
• Implement positive behavior supports and effective classroom management strategies.
• Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation and compliance records.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families.
• Participate in IEP meetings, staff trainings, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
• Adapt instructional materials and strategies to support individualized learning and functional skill development.
• Foster a structured, safe, and supportive classroom environment that promotes student achievement and independence.

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field preferred
• Active North Carolina Special Education teaching certification required (or ability to obtain through reciprocity/provisional pathways).
• Experience working with students with moderate/severe disabilities or extended content standards preferred.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Passion for supporting students with diverse educational and behavioral needs.
• Ability to maintain compliance timelines and accurate educational documentation.

• School-based setting with opportunities in both elementary and high school separate classrooms.
• Small classroom environment with approximately 8 students and 2 teacher assistants per classroom.
• Collaborative team environment with support from administrators and related service providers.
• Structured educational setting focused on student growth, independence, and individualized support.
