Qualifications/Requirements:

Applicants must hold or be eligible to hold a master's degree in School Psychology. Applicants must be certified as a School Psychologist by North Carolina Public Schools (NCDPI). Relevant work experience preferred in the field of School Psychology.

Goal:
To facilitate learning and promote the cognitive, social and personal development of all students.

Duties:

• Follow all policies, regulations, and procedures of Lincoln County Schools including state and federal regulations governing special education programming and services, and federal IDEA regulations
• Identify and assess the learning, development characteristics, and needs of individuals and groups, as well as the environmental factors that affect learning and adjustment. Use assessment data about the student in developing appropriate interventions and programs
• Completion of Reading Research to Practice (formerly Reading Foundations) training and Math Foundations training is preferred, along with training and knowledge of the Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) initiative
• Support school-level MTSS teams in the problem-solving for students who need intervention
• Assist MTSS teams in developing appropriate evidence and research-based interventions for students, data collection tools for progress monitoring, and assist in data analysis to determine effectiveness of interventions
• Provide consultation to parents, teachers, school personnel, and community agencies to enhance student learning
• Assist in the planning, development, and evaluation of programs to meet the diverse learning needs of students
• Deliver a planned and coordinated program of psychological services to eligible students with disabilities
• Utilize relevant technology to prepare evaluation reports; collaborate with the EC Dept.'s staff regarding data entry and data management
• Conduct evaluations of children suspected of having a disability following guidelines set forth by the state education agency, NC Policies Governing Services for Children with Disabilities and IDEA; complete and submit evaluation reports in a timely manner; coordinate evaluations with Educational Diagnosticians, exceptional children program teacher, and/or related service providers; establish and maintain a communication loop to meet deadlines regarding initial evaluation and reevaluation
• Attend IEP meetings to assist team members in decision making regarding initial referral, interpretation of evaluation results, eligibility determination, IEP development, reevaluation, and/or problem solving
• Apply ethics and standards of professional practice in the delivery of school psychological services and observe relevant laws and policies that govern such practice; employees of Lincoln County Schools must follow all policies set forth by the local Board of Education
• Participate in professional organizations and continually seek to improve professional knowledge and skills regarding school psychology and special education policies and regulations
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with EC Dept. leaders and staff, parents, students, IEP teams, MTSS teams, School Psychologist team, and other stakeholders within the district
• Attend regularly scheduled meetings, professional development activities, and professional learning communities of practices as identified by the Exceptional Children Program Director and/or Lead School Psychologist, and/or Principal to build capacity with regard to special education regulations and programming for students with disabilities and a Multi-Tiered System of Support
• Develop and provide professional development on a variety of topics as determined by the Exceptional Children Program Director in order to build capacity across the district
• Work closely with the Exceptional Children Program Director and other Exceptional Children Program staff to maintain consistent understanding…
