Job Summary:

A Global Packaging Innovator is seeking a Tooling Engineer to join their team in the Charlotte Metro area! Serve as the plant expert on mold design, part design, and injection molding tooling systems, managing the maintenance, performance, and implementation of both new and existing molds.

All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.

Responsibilities
  • Lead diagnostic, retooling, and refurbishing efforts for complex, high‑cavity plastic injection molds to extend tool life and optimize performance.
  • Blend engineering design with traditional mold‑maker bench elements; actively support toolroom activities and the physical implementation of tooling modifications, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Utilize Solid Works exclusively to design, modify, and develop tooling solutions, engineering changes, and specialized components.
  • Evaluate production floor issues and collaborate with process, maintenance, and automation teams to troubleshoot process‑related tooling issues, validate mold functionality, and establish optimal processing parameters.
  • Conduct root cause analysis on tooling failures and implement robust corrective/preventive actions to reduce cycle times and scrap.
Requirements
  • BS in Engineering Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent hands‑on experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in plastic injection mold design, manufacturing, and refurbishment.
  • Understanding of process engineering as it relates to plastic injection molding and high‑cavity tooling systems (up to 128 cavities).
  • Proficiency in Solid Works (all design work is performed exclusively in Solid Works).
  • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings and documentation.
