Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, or his/her designee, the Day Camp Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership, guidance, and daily oversight to all Camp Supervisors and Counselors. The Coordinator ensures that all Village of Lincolnwood standards, safety policies, and procedures are properly implemented throughout the Summer Day Camp program. This position plays a key role in creating a fun, safe, and positive camp environment while supporting, training, and supervising seasonal camp staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist with planning, organizing, and delivering the summer day camp program.
- Support the recruitment, training, and ongoing development of camp staff.
- Provide daily supervision and coaching to Camp Supervisors and Counselors.
- Assist in enforcing behavior management plans and camp expectations.
- Develop and communicate camp rules, safety protocols, and staff expectations.
- Provide detailed daily and weekly schedules to Camp Supervisors and ensure timely communication of any updates or changes.
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding camper progress, discipline matters, schedule, updates, and general inquiries via Class Dojo and in person.
- Manage supply requests and weekly inventory for camp equipment and materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe camp environment (e.g., ensuring areas are reset, supplies stored properly, and no items left behind).
- Assist with preparation, setup, and distribution of materials for daily activities and special events.
- Oversee completion of administrative tasks such as attendance, incident reports, permission slips, and required forms.
- Coordinate, design, and distribute weekly session calendars for camp groups.
- Perform additional related duties as assigned.
The wage range for the position is $23-$25. This position is seasonal and does not qualify for benefits.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position requires management responsibilities of a supervisory nature. Incumbents must be proficient in basic concepts relating to personnel management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEThis position requires a completed or in-progress bachelor’s degree and one to two years of related experience. CPR, AED, First Aid Certifications, and Epi-Pen and Glucagon training are required prior to the start of camp.
COMPUTERSKILLS:
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to learn how to print rosters and look up information in the Civic Rec registration system.
LANGUAGESKILLS:
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to compose and prepare reports and the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
MATHEMATICALSKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITIES:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES:Ability to work with children
Ability to prioritize duties and complete tasks within allotted hours
Understanding of the principles, practices, and objectives of Parks and Recreation administration and recreation programming
Ability to deal with the public tactfully and courteously
Commitment to promoting the positive image and growth of the Day Camp program
