Overview

Inventory Specialist ponsible for inventory execution, monitoring, and training across store areas including front end and pharmacy, with emphasis on On-Shelf Availability, planograms, pricing, and inventory accuracy. Includes leadership on duty responsibilities in designated stores as required.

Responsibilities
  • Execute, monitor, and train inventory best practices and standard operating procedures for the entire store (front end and pharmacy). Support pharmacy inventory management activities (receiving, counting, ordering, and returns). Validate and ensure accuracy of planograms.
  • Review and coordinate the use of reports and system applications affecting front end and pharmacy on-hand balances and pricing.
  • Implement and maintain front end and pharmacy asset protection techniques; file claims for warehouse and vendor overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods including prescription drugs.
  • In designated stores, open and close the store in the absence of store management, including systems start-ups, cash handling, cashier responsibilities, and ensuring floor and stock room readiness for business day.
  • Engage customers, greet and assist with products and services; lead on duty in designated stores by resolving customer issues to ensure a positive experience.
  • Model customer service best practices and coach team members on delivering a distinctive and proactive Walgreens service experience.
  • Execute and coach warehouse and vendor inventory management processes, including creating, reviewing, and receiving orders.
  • Receive deliveries in store, including vendor and common carrier deliveries; manage One Box receiving, contact vendors for undelivered items, and open tickets to correct order inaccuracies.
  • Under pharmacist-in-charge supervision, verify pharmacy shipments and postings for stocking across pharmacy warehouse orders, ABC prescription/OTC orders, and other duties; report shortages or damaged product.
  • Complete On-Shelf Availability (OSA) end-to-end for planogrammed departments, including disposals, call-ins, vendor returns, and scan outs/returns for all subscribed departments and pharmacy.
  • Support pharmacy inventory activities including recalls, vendor returns, damaged salvage, excess inventory returns or interstore transfers, and posting of all pharmacy/prescription claims.
  • Execute pricing activities (price changes, markdowns, and signage) and maintain basic department pricing accuracy and regulatory pricing tasks.
  • Assist in front end and pharmacy ordering; monitor manual orders for excesses; maintain consigned inventory where required.
  • Ensure designated pull and quarantine items on-hands are updated and stored appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate inventory counts across all areas; ensure on-hand quantity accuracy in store, stockroom, and overstock locations.
  • Under pharmacist-in-charge supervision, maintain accurate counts in pharmacy and perform smart counts.
  • Ensure store inventory compliance with state/local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcohol and tobacco).
  • Assist in inventory records maintenance, including receiving and posting all products in inventory systems; organize and retain invoices/receipts/return authorizations.
  • Prepare for physical inventory and support inventory day activities, including staging sales floor and stockroom, and auditing third-party teams.
  • Keep counters and shelves clean and well-merchandised; maintain knowledge of all store systems and equipment.
  • Assist and coach on package delivery tasks (scanning in/out, daily inventory functions, returns) and support the Pickup Program.
  • In designated stores as leader on duty, register all related sales on POS, including handling scanning errors, price verifications, and voids; manage product returns, refunds, and cash handling as required.
  • Comply with company policies; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.
  • Complete any additional activities and tasks as assigned.
Training & Personal Development
  • Attend company-based trainings and complete all e-learning modules, including safety training requirements.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid pharmacy license/certification as required by the state.
