The job of SpEd Para II for Occupational Therapy (OT) is to provide support to the instructional program under the direction of an assigned Occupational Therapist. Responsibilities include assisting with fine motor development services, caring for and instructing special‑needs students in the regular classroom, 1:1 pull‑out sessions, or self‑contained classrooms; implementing instructional plans; monitoring student behavior during instructional and non‑instructional time;

and providing information to appropriate school personnel.

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments, or materials under the direction of the supervising teacher to support and reinforce classroom objectives and IEP goals.
• Administer immediate first aid and medical assistance as instructed by a health‑care professional to meet immediate health‑care needs.
• Assist students with self‑care activities (toileting, washing, changing diapers, eating, dressing, grooming) to maintain personal hygiene.
• Attend job‑specific trainings (first aid, behavior management, etc.) to acquire and convey information relevant to job functions.
• Collect data to support teachers in the classroom and prepare reports or processing forms.
• Communicate with supervising instructional staff and professional support personnel to assist in evaluating progress and implementing IEP objectives.
• Implement behavioral plans designed by the IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions under the supervision of the assigned teacher, reinforcing learning concepts and acquiring appropriate social and school skills.
• Maintain instructional materials and/or electronic files/records to ensure availability of items, provide written reference, and meet mandated requirements.
• Monitor students during assigned periods within various school environments (rest rooms, playgrounds, hallways, bus loading zones, cafeteria, parking lots) to maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Provide under the supervision of the assigned teacher instruction to students in individual and group activities (academic subjects, social skills, daily living skills) to reinforce instructional objectives, implement IEP plans, and ensure student success.
• Attend meetings and in‑service presentations (first aid, CPR, emergency procedures, etc.) to acquire and convey information relevant to job functions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

• Minimum age 16 years.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
