- Install, secure, repair and maintain district wide LAN, WLAN and WAN applications, file/database and Web servers; ensure data and network security; manage user access and maintain related records.
- Assist in overseeing the LAN computer/server room operation and environment.
- Install and maintain Novell/OSX servers.
- Provide technical support to district/site staff and students.
- Administer District policies regarding use of computers and data access systems and servers related to district LAN and WAN (e.g. e-mail systems, accounts, print queue, workstation , IP assignments, computer labs, classroom computers, staff computers, network security, antivirus, spyware, etc.) to ensure service availability for authorized users.
- Install network (client and server) software on multiple platforms (e.g. service packs, application software, operating software, hardware upgrades, software upgrades) to upgrade and maintain District WAN/LAN and VoIP systems.
- Maintain network operations and software applications (servers such as file, print, web, database; operating systems; local onsite server backup; routine maintenance programs) for efficient operations.
- Oversee the operation of the local onsite network center (e.g., monitor temperature, organize materials, ensure material availability, diagnose and resolve problems with computer systems and networks).
- Participate in meetings, workshops and trainings to convey or gather information required to perform job functions.
- Prepare written materials (procedures, system-level documentation, reports, memos, letters) for documenting activities and providing written reference.
- Research trends, products, equipment and tests to inform procedures and purchases.
- Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, site personnel, outside vendors and service providers to provide technical assistance, support and training.
- Support a variety of computer systems (e.g., SIS, Online Computer Based Testing, TES, financial software) to ensure District objectives are achieved.
- Support Technology Specialists and System Support Specialists in providing direction and/or solving technical problems.
- Troubleshoot malfunctions of network hardware and/or software within the District’s LAN/WAN and telephony (e.g., servers, hubs, routers, network protocols, fiber optics) to restore services.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective operation of the work unit.
- Age 16+
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in networking and computer support
