Maintenance Mechanic

Overview

Working for a world‑class leader in building structures and bridges, a Schuff Steel Maintenance Mechanic brings expertise in commercial and preventative maintenance. This critical role repairs and maintains heavy fabrication equipment, ensuring production continues smoothly.

• Repair and maintain shop machines and equipment
• Analyze problems with various equipment and recommend cost‑effective solutions
• Apply repair and maintenance knowledge on motors, controls, hydraulics, and pneumatic equipment
• Work independently with minimum supervision
• Climb to perform repairs with no fear of heights
• Keep work area organized and clean
• Adhere to safety rules and PPE requirements

High school diploma or GED, and at least 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Equipment knowledge and skills – expertise with shop hand tools and maintenance repair equipment
• Language skills – read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence such as repair orders.
• Mathematical skills – basic arithmetic concepts and unit conversions.
• Reasoning ability – apply common sense and problem‑solving skills to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – none.
