Job Summary
This is an individual contributor position responsible for performing preventive and repair maintenance, electrical, electronic, and mechanical work for the Coatings Division with proficiency. The Maintenance Technician1 also fabricates fixtures using welding, cutting, and brazing.
Essential Functions- Test, inspect, repair, troubleshoot, and re‑assemble basic plant equipment and components, including overhead bridge cranes, hoists, gearboxes, forklifts, straddle trucks, pneumatic and mechanical systems, power transmission components, combustion engines, boiler systems, and electrical and hydraulic systems.
- Perform basic electrical work and assist in highly skilled electrical work.
- Fabricate fixtures using welding, cutting, brazing, and surface hardening applications.
- Communicate with supervisor and other maintenance and production team members via e‑mail, phone, and face‑to‑face.
- Work with small hand tools, maintain tools and equipment, and fabricate and repair metal structures and components.
- Operate gauging equipment including tape measures, micrometers, and dial calipers.
- Identify and report equipment abnormalities and safety hazards.
- Assume general plant clean‑up and housekeeping.
- 1‑3 years of relevant experience with plant equipment, basic testing, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to lift up to 50lb (most frequent lift up to 30lb) and perform 75% of the workday standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, and climbing.
- Authorized to operate a forklift and other powered industrial trucks, aerial platforms, and bridge cranes.
- Knowledge of arc‑flash safety, confined‑space entry, hazardous‑energy control, and fall protection.
- Must wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- Open to 1‑2 shifts of overtime per week as needed.
- Actively pursuing an associate’s or technical degree in industrial maintenance or a related field.
- Ability to interpret and fabricate components based on blueprints or specification sheets.
- One year of experience with basic troubleshooting of pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- One year of experience in basic welding/fabricating metal structures or components.
- Industrial boiler certification, structural welding certification, or pipe welding certification.
Physical Requirements
- Company training and authorization to operate powered industrial trucks, aerial platforms, and bridge cranes in arc‑flash safety, confined‑space entry, hazardous‑energy control, and fall protection.
- Climb and work from ladders, aerial platforms, bridge cranes, and roofs in excess of 80ft.
- Work in adverse conditions: wet, hot, dusty, dirty, or cold.
