NATURE OF THE WORK
Perform a variety of entry-level duties related to the construction, installation, maintenance, and upkeep of streets, sidewalks, utilities, ditches, culverts, signs, storm inlets, and tree pruning.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Meet performance standards established with the employee's superintendent.
- Job attendance is required, except for authorized leave.
- Perform general cleaning, maintenance, and assist city crews with storage facilities, utility infrastructure, and other facilities.
- Operate vehicles while towing trailers; operate powered equipment such as trimmers, pole saws, etc. Trim trees in public right-of-ways.
- Use hand tools such as shovels and rakes. Clear weeds and obstructing vegetation from ditches and canals.
- Gather and remove litter from all City properties. Clean storm drain inlet boxes, manholes, grates, and pipes.
- Help set water meters. Assist with water breaks, road repairs, installation of signs. Assist all public works divisions with varying job functions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Must be 18 years old to apply.
A standard high school diploma or equivalent, or working to obtain such, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience preferred but not required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATESRequires a valid State of Utah Driver license. Utah CDL Preferred.
WORKING ENVIRONMENTTasks require a variety of physical activities, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, lifting, etc., on uneven surfaces. Talking, hearing, and seeing are essential to the performance of the job. Memory for details, verbal instructions, and critical thinking are a must. Frequent local travel may be required.
Daily exposure to weather extremes and seasonal conditions (above 90 degrees
F), rain, and wind. Daily exposure to tasks that require protective gear such as safety shoes, protective eye wear, gloves, hard hats, and hearing protection.
$20.54-$22.20/Hr DOE - Temporary Position, No Benefits
