Job DescriptionSummary / Objective
The Heavy Haul Transport Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently transporting Goodfellow heavy equipment to customer, branch, jobsite, and service locations within the assigned sales region. This role includes planning load movement, loading, securing, hauling, and unloading equipment such as rock crushers and related machinery. The position works closely with sales, service, dispatch, customers, pilot car providers, law enforcement, and local authorities to support safe and timely transportation of oversize and overweight loads.

- Plan routes, order required permits, and coordinate with pilot cars, law enforcement, and local authorities for the movement of oversize and overweight loads.
- Operate commercial motor vehicles in compliance with DOT, FMCSA, state, local, and company safety requirements.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections and report equipment concerns in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection records, permit documentation, and other required transportation records.
- Load, chain, strap, and secure cargo on trailers in accordance with applicable safety standards and company procedures.
- Communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, escorts, and public agencies regarding schedules, site access, route conditions, and delivery logistics.
- Represent Goodfellow Corporation in a safe, professional, and customer-focused manner.
- Valid Class A CDL with doubles/triples endorsement.
- Current DOT medical card.
- Minimum of three years of commercial transport driving experience, including heavy haul experience.
- Experience with multi-axle trailer combinations, such as 3+1, 3+2, or similar configurations.
- Experience hauling overweight loads of approximately 150,000 pounds or more, where permitted and applicable.
- Experience transporting over-dimensional loads, including oversize length, width, and height.
- Ability to satisfy company, customer, DOT, and insurance requirements, including background, motor vehicle record, and drug/alcohol screening requirements, as permitted by applicable law.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent education or work experience.
- Experience transporting heavy construction, aggregate, or mining equipment.
- Familiarity with rock crushers, conveyors, screens, or similar large machinery.
- Knowledge of state routing, permitting, and oversize load requirements.
- Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and professional driving standards.
- Working knowledge of commercial vehicles, trailers, load securement, and heavy haul equipment.
- Ability to coordinate safely and effectively with pilot car drivers, highway patrol, customers, and internal teams.
- Dependable, organized, and able to manage changing schedules, routes, and delivery priorities.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to complete required documentation accurately.

Work EnvironmentThis role operates in a transportation, yard, customer-site, and field environment. Work may occur outdoors and in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, snow, wind, and dust. The position may involve work around heavy equipment, moving vehicles, trailers, and active jobsites.
Physical Requirements- Frequently climb on and off equipment and trailers, including work at heights.
- Use chains, binders, straps, and related securement tools to secure cargo.
- Lift, carry, push, pull, and maneuver tools and securement equipment as required for load preparation.
- Stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and work around commercial vehicles and heavy equipment.
Travel is required for this position. The role is expected to include regular overnight travel, typically three or more overnight stays per week depending on business needs, route schedules, and customer locations.
