Position: Audit Senior (Government and Non-profit)

Audit Senior (Government and Non-profit) - Hybrid / Salary $25–$45 per hour

Contract to hire at a Top 200 firm located in the Baltimore area. This role is hybrid and offers a unique opportunity to work on diverse projects within the Accounting and Finance industry.

Once permanent (within about 3‑4 months), you will be on payroll, receiving PTO, paid holidays, and full benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage audits for government and non‑profit organizations, ensuring compliance with GAAS and other relevant standards.
  • Plan and execute Single Audits in accordance with Uniform Guidance.
  • Evaluate and improve the effectiveness of internal controls, risk management, and governance processes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on audit findings and make recommendations to improve individual or establishment accounting and management practices.
  • Communicate audit findings to stakeholders and provide practical, creative, and cost‑effective solutions to address risk areas and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff members, promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Stay updated on new auditing and accounting regulations and standards, ensuring the organization’s practices remain compliant.
  • Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A Master’s degree or professional certifications (CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.) would be a plus.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in auditing, preferably in government and non‑profit sectors.
  • Proficiency in Single Audit, Government Audit, Non‑Profit Audit, GAAS, and Internal Controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to handle complex data and provide insightful, constructive feedback.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • A strong ethical framework and a commitment to the highest standards of integrity, independence, and confidentiality.
