An organization within Northrop Grumman’s Mission Systems Sector, Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) is a leading innovator in advanced microelectronics design and fabrication. MDA is seeking an Operations Lab Engineer
. This position is located at Baltimore, MD and will serve on-site in Linthicum/Annapolis Junction, MD.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) Advanced Processing Solutions is working to develop next‑generation high‑performance computing systems to meet the mission demands of the NGMS Networked Information Solutions (NIS) business. Superconducting electronics forms the core of our technology, focusing on energy‑efficient computation with our patented superconducting digital logic technology, Reciprocal Quantum Logic (RQL).

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Microelectronics Design and Applications (MDA) business segment.

Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to cryogenic systems.
  • Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of cryogenic and test equipment (Power Supplies, signal generators, pulse generators, frequency counter, oscilloscope, etc) in Lab environment.
  • Oversee day‑to‑day operation of cryogenic test lab and ensure optimal functionality and safe working environment.
  • Asset management movement and tracking including compliance with calibration and government property policies.
  • Conduct periodic lab inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in cryogenic and test operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for operational efficiency.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred) with 2 years of related experience or 0 years with technical Masters. 4 additional years of technical experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with cryogenic test environments, including system operation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic test systems.
  • Must be able to navigate within a testing area and physically lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance per customer’s requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Active US Government security clearance per customer’s requirements.
  • Experience with superconducting electronics test platforms.
  • Experience with microwave electronics.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulatory requirements in cryogenics and test equipment (Power Supplies, signal generators, pulse generators, frequency counter, oscilloscope, etc).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting, including adapting to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Cable and rack installation/electronic system integration experience.
Salary Range

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $. The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
