Overview
US Valve is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Valves and Flow Control Applications Engineer to join our Engineering team. We manufacture high‑performance check valves at our Linthicum, MD facility, serving critical applications across industrial, commercial, and specialty markets.
Responsibilities Valve Selection, Sizing, and Application Support- Coordinate with the sales team to size and select valves based on process conditions, material requirements, performance needs, and customer specifications.
- Review datasheets, P&IDs, drawings, and engineering specifications to identify the right valve configuration for a given application.
- Recommend materials such as metals, seat materials, and elastomers that match the service conditions.
- Use internal tools, sizing calculators, ERP configurators, and engineering software to predict performance and highlight application concerns.
- Develop and improve sizing tools, application guides, and installation/operation manuals.
- Review regulatory requirements, including domestic content requirements, and provide guidance to the sales team regarding sourcing requirements, cost, and execution.
- Serve as a technical contact for customers and channel partners by gathering application details, answering questions, and recommending solutions.
- Prepare and deliver cut sheets, technical documentation, and product recommendations.
- Work through product and application issues by offering troubleshooting support and cost‑effective solutions.
- Provide clear and timely communication to ensure customers understand their options and the reasoning behind recommendations.
- Together with product and quality engineers, perform root cause analysis on customer field failures and communicate findings professionally.
- Review special or complex incoming orders for accuracy and alignment with technical requirements.
- Create routings, item records, quality alerts, and work instructions to guide production during the manufacture of products for special or complex projects.
- Create or update bills of material and complete engineering change requests and engineering change notices.
- Support company quality initiatives by maintaining accurate information, compliant documentation, and tracking customer product complaint records.
- Work closely with design engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and project teams to support product development and order execution.
- Communicate customer needs to design engineers to support custom valve solutions when needed.
- Assist sales and marketing with technical content, demonstrations, and training materials.
- Strong understanding of valve principles, flow characteristics, and Cv calculations.
- Familiarity with industry standards such as ASME, API, NACE, and CE or PED requirements.
- Ability to read P&IDs, interpret datasheets, and analyze mechanical and process information.
- Strong communication skills for working with customers, distributors, engineers, and internal teams.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
- Experience with 3D modeling software and ERP systems (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Two to seven years of experience in valves, fluid control equipment, instrumentation, or a similar industry.
- Experience with safety relief valves, control valves, or specialized flow‑control equipment is preferred.
- Move around, handle objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
- Occasionally lift up to 35 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Office and shop floor working environment.
- Noise level is minimal with intervals of spikes.
- Required to wear safety glasses and utilize safety equipment while present on the shop floor.
- Occasional travel to customer or distributor locations for support or training may be required.
