Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Accountant to join the Internal Financial Reporting team for a large healthcare system based out of Linthicum, MD. This role supports monthly financial reporting, cash accounting, reconciliations, variance analysis, and collaboration with executive leadership for a specific hospital entity. The team serves as a highly visible group that partners closely with senior leadership, operational teams, and auditors.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support and lead month-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and reconciliations.

• Prepare draft and final monthly financial statements for assigned hospital entities.

• Perform variance analysis of actuals versus budget and prior periods; prepare commentary for leadership.

• Participate in monthly executive financial review meetings:

• One team reviews revenue

• This role focuses on expense-side analysis

• Perform and review balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with GAAP and UMMS policies.

• Prepare and post cash journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation.

• Perform bank and cash account reconciliations for complex accounts; assist staff with smaller accounts.

• Research and clear unidentified deposits and withdrawals.

• Perform GL reconciliations of cash accounts to source systems (EPIC) and bank statements.

• Utilize Auto Rec and other tools to streamline reconciliation processes.

• Prepare cash analytics and dashboards to support leadership decision-making.

• Coordinate with Internal and External Financial Reporting teams as needed.

• Support regulatory filings including HSCRC annual filings and IRS Form 990 preparation.

• Assist with annual consolidated financial audits, internal audits, and decision support budgeting.

• Ensure compliance with UMMS internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR).

• Support ambulatory care accounting, including limited close entries and meetings during the first few days of close.

• Develop and implement process improvements and standardization initiatives.
Provide guidance and mentorship to accounting staff as needed.

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• 4+ years of professional accounting or auditing experience.

• Knowledge of debits, credits, journal entries, and how accruals works

• Strong Excel skills.

• Strong analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving skills

• Deadline oriented

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Plusses:

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

• Hospital or healthcare accounting experience

• Experience with EPIC or similar healthcare financial systems

Strong communication skills and executive-facing experience
Experience preparing and presenting financial statements
