Direct Support Professional - Personal Support Assistant

The Person al Support Assistant will support one or more people living in their own home or in their family’s home located in a suburban or rural community. The Person al Support Assistant is responsible for supporting people with disabilities by facilitating and promoting independence, self-advocacy, and decision making. This role supports each person’s life choices and facilitates opportunities to build relationships and participate fully in their communities.

A key component of the position is fostering independence and personal growth. The Person al Support Assistant must meet the qualifications of a Direct Support Professional and complete all required trainings. This position may also require a Medical Technician Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing.

• The ideal candidate is self-motivated, solutions-oriented, and creative in their approach to delivering person-centered supports.
• They must be able to work independently and as part of a team, remaining calm and productive in response to change or crisis.
• Candidates should have experience providing respectful, individualized support and be comfortable using technology to complete documentation and communication tasks.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential for building trust, promoting self-confidence, and communicating professionally with individuals, families, and other stakeholders.
• This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year of experience supporting people with disabilities preferred.
• Candidates must have a valid Maryland Driver’s License with no egregious violations.
