Overview
This technician will support the current team at Northrop Grumman from a MAC (move, add, change) and new build perspective. The majority of the infrastructure is moving to VOIP and this resource could help with that transition, but overall will be supporting the emergency and classified hardlines which remain copper. They will be responding to trouble tickets on a daily basis and supporting the MAC team on other initiatives during downtime.
They should be able to respond to trouble tickets related to disconnects, new lines on POTS, Dmarc/comm room experience, identifying copper circuits, client circuits, providers (Verizon), etc. Experience with old-school telephony on POTS lines, troubleshooting/testing via butt sets, tone generators, multimeters, probes is required. Comfort with VOIP install, emergency service lines, elevator lines, Verizon telephony lines is expected. They will cross-train on POTS lines, phone systems, telephony, structured cabling, and assist with MAC work during downtime.
Responsibilities- Respond to trouble tickets daily
- Support MAC (Move, Add, Change) and new build initiatives
- Troubleshoot and test copper circuits and POTS lines
- Install and maintain VOIP and structured cabling systems
- Assist with emergency and classified hardlines
- Cross-train on POTS lines, phone systems, and structured cabling
- Intermediate level experience in telecommunications
- Knowledge of cable:
Cat5, Cat6, and general cable installation - Experience with POTS, copper, and troubleshooting using tone generators, multimeters, probes
- Comfortable with VOIP install and emergency service lines
- Strong work ethic, ability to follow direction, reliable, flexible hours (day shift)
- Proficient in handling client-facing tasks in a government environment
Pay range: $33.00 - $38.00/hr.

The position is fully onsite in Linthicum Heights, MD (95% at the main campus, with potential additional sites in the DMV market).
