Controls Systems Technician

Responsibilities

• Perform assigned system commissioning using Johnson Controls configuration and commissioning tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.
• Respond to basic warranty calls.
• Provide customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items.
• Act as a trusted advisor, offering solutions and outcomes at the time of service.

• Load system-level controller software.
• Perform basic commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (e.g., sensors, actuators, etc.) and complete all required commissioning documentation.
• Keep management, JCI contractor, and customers informed of job progress and issues.
• Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment.
• Complete administrative tasks, including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.
• Document changes and provide information for as-built documentation.
• Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
• Follow all safety standards and attend required safety training.
• Maintain a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.
• Provide recommendations and solutions to ensure the facility runs efficiently, including upselling opportunities.
• Provide quotes to support recommendations and solutions.

• Vocational school, four-year program, or associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field, plus three years of industry experience; or one year of experience servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems in the HVAC industry.
• Knowledge of HVAC controls systems, facilities management systems, site preparation, peripheral equipment installation, and servicing techniques.
• Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls to customers and other contacts in an ethical and professional manner.
• Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people.
• Leadership skills to support mechanics working on non-complex, non-critical Building Automation equipment on a job site.
• PC experience required and ability to program HVAC-related software.

Hourly rate: $21.00 – $29.00 (to be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data). This position includes a competitive benefits package.
