Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking an Embedded Space Software Engineering Manager – Manager Level 1 to join our team in Linthicum, MD .

The manager will be responsible for providing technical oversight through the entire software development lifecycle (including design, development, integration, and maintenance) of software components, along with support of system integration and test. Additionally, the manager will lead and guide a matrixed functional team of software engineers through software process, career development, and performance appraisals. The software manager will participate in proposal generation, staffing allocations, recruiting, and execution of software projects.

The manager will guide their team in applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle in support of programs.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

The candidate should have experience in leading and coordinating a team through challenging software development activities. The manager must guide their team utilizing an Agile development approach with tasks including decomposition of requirements into agile features, software design, coding, testing, integration, and systems test to deliver enhanced secure capabilities. Strong communication and active leadership skills are vital to this position.

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another STEM discipline with a minimum of 5 year of software development experience working on embedded real-time systems – OR – Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or another STEM discipline with 3 years of software development experience working on embedded real-time systems.
• Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access. Approval must be obtained within a reasonable timeframe, as determined by the company, to meet business needs. Not required to start, US Citizenship required .
• Experience in software engineering/development experience in C++ or Python
• Experience with embedded software development or software development that integrates and controls hardware
• Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the software development lifecycle
