The Estimator will be responsible for pricing all aspects of projects, complying with project designs, and maintaining project budgets and schedules. The Estimator’s role is to plan and anticipate possible costs for each project and to competitively and effectively produce bids that are timely, cost‑efficient, and profitable for the company.
Key Responsibilities- Review RFP documents, drawings, specifications, attend pre‑bid meetings, and coordinate walkthroughs to determine project scope and estimate deliverables.
- Work with clients and their representatives to establish preliminary construction budgets.
- Conduct hard bid solicitations and prepare bid packages.
- Solicit and coordinate subcontractor bids and supplier quotes for labor, material, and equipment to meet project specifications and budget requirements.
- Perform quantity take‑offs and develop an estimate prior to subcontractor input.
- Compare and level subcontractor bids against the in‑house budget.
- Maintain files of working documents to back up estimate figures.
- Develop preliminary construction schedules as required.
- Collaborate with Sales and Administrative personnel to validate accurate information going to contract.
- Work with Directors, Project Managers, and Superintendents for project turnover meetings.
- Assist Operations with subcontractor buyouts when needed for negotiated projects.
- Complete post‑bid analysis on unsuccessful bids with the Sales team.
- Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
- Familiarity with building construction, market conditions, means & methods, and trade practices.
- Extensive experience with construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Knowledge of construction materials & labor costing and basic accounting principles.
- Deep understanding of standard estimating practices and procedures.
- Relationship development and maintenance with subcontractors, vendors, architects, engineers, designers, and inter‑departmental company personnel.
- Self‑motivated professional capable of prioritizing workloads and completing tasks.
- Maintain a well‑organized approach and disciplined work ethic.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; effective presentation skills.
- Computer skills – critical‑path scheduling, Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Project); quantity take‑offs using Plan Swift, Bluebeam, or similar estimating software;
Procore experience is a plus.
- Education – Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent construction‑management experience within the construction industry.
- Industry Experience – Minimum (2) years of experience in commercial construction estimating with conceptual estimating, negotiated cost estimating, and hard bidding; must be able to work closely with architects, developers, and business owners. Knowledge of commercial construction means and methods is a must.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Education – Master’s Degree or equivalent construction‑management experience.
- Industry Experience – 5+ years of experience in commercial construction estimating with conceptual estimating, negotiated cost estimating, and hard bidding; must be able to work closely with architects, developers, and business owners. Knowledge of commercial construction means and methods is a must.

Job Type: Full‑time
Base Pay: $100,000 - $135,000 annual salary (see Wage Disclaimer on determination of base pay)
