Position: Student Employee – Museum Attendant (FWS)

Department: Jurica‑Suchy Nature Museum

Classification: Part‑time, Non‑benefit eligible

Rate: IL State Minimum Wage

Duties: Join the museum team and learn about the behind‑the‑scenes work in our natural history museum. Students will assist with a variety of tasks including greeting museum guests and supporting education outreach programs. Students must be reliable and have an interest in science education. All majors welcome to apply. Applicants must check with Financial Aid for Federal Work Study funding availability;

FWS funding preferred. Please include a resume and class schedule with your application. No experience necessary, but applicants must be enthusiastic and willing to learn. Training is provided.

  • Must be a currently enrolled Benedictine student in good standing.
  • Must have FWS funds.

Physical Requirements: The employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to touch, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies up to 20 pounds. Use of computer screen, phone and customer service equipment is required. May require bending or sitting for long periods of time.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Campus‑specific guidelines for pandemic protocols are required.

Training: As a University employee you are required to complete all University‑specific and/or OSHA‑related training to fulfill your job duties. Specific training will be conducted online or in person. Employees must complete all trainings required by Benedictine University.

Location: Birck Hall 222

Final date to receive applications: Open until filled

Hours per week: 6–12 hours

Days/Times Preferred: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (or 12 p.m. – 2 p.m.) on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday during June and July.
