Job Overview

We are seeking a new Structural Designer to join our team at Ardmore Roderick. As a Structural Designer
, you will work with a team of infrastructure solutions experts to address our client’s evolving project needs. The role is based in Lisle, IL and will involve a combination of remote, in‑office and field work. You will be a part of the Tollway’s General Engineering Consultant (GEC) staff, performing structural engineering analyses of an extensive inventory of bridges, retaining walls, and sign structures, as well as providing occasional support on structural inspections.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine safe load capacities for all assigned structures and review ratings provided by consultants.
  • Provide expertise in the technical evaluation of oversize/overweight (OSOW) permit applications, particularly for Superloads (>120,000 lbs).
  • Utilize and manage AASHTOWare Bridge Rating (BrR) software for all structural modeling.
  • Prepare Structure Load Rating Summaries (SLRS).
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 0‑5 years of experience in civil/structural engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, or related field, from an ABET‑accredited U.S. institution.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Team‑player mindset with the ability to communicate proficiently in written and verbal forms.
  • Good to great organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years focused on structural design analysis and bridge load ratings.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license, or ability to obtain, is highly preferred for senior‑level bridge analysis in Illinois.
  • National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) Bridge Inspection Team Leader certification.
  • Working knowledge of other structural engineering software.

Salary Range: $72,000 - $86,000. Ardmore Roderick is providing the compensation range that the company believes it might pay and/or offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
