Job Overview
We are expanding our in‑house Engineering team and are on the lookout for a skilled SI Engineer to join us. If you're eager to fast-track your career and become a part of an exceptional company, this opportunity might be perfect for you.
As a SI Engineer, you will spearhead the development of new connector and terminal products for the automotive industry, guiding them through all stages of the product development lifecycle to transition concepts into production. Additionally, you will assist with modifications and extension work for existing products and contribute to research and development initiatives within the high speed & high voltage automotive sector.
Job Responsibilities- Lead automotive high speed SI connector and terminal concept development activities with minimal guidance from Engineering Manager.
- Collaborate with Engineers to identify & mitigate SI issues in the early stages of product development.
- Plan and lead DFMEAs, simulations, tolerance analysis, and other theoretical studies. Develop mitigation plans for areas of risk.
- Develop & document design rules and guidelines to meet SI requirements for new product development & existing product modification.
- Direct documentation of the project scope, requirements, feasibility, and engineering work plan.
- Manage material selection and justification, focusing on resins for plastic injection molding and metals for stamping components.
- Develop connector test plans (DVP&Rs) and evaluate results using statistical methods. Lead failure analysis using structured problem‑solving methods.
- Serve as the Subject Matter Expert in high‑speed SI automotive connector development including but not limited to signal integrity & electromagnetic effects.
- Act as the engineering voice to cross‑functional teams and customers, ensuring design objectives are met and identifying / directing R&D opportunities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 5 years of product design experience with depth of knowledge in material, signal integrity & EMC, manufacturing processes, & engineering processes/tools
- 3 years of experience developing high speed automotive connectors
- Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with DFMEA, Simulation tools (HFSS, CST), design for manufacturing, tolerance/variation analysis and other theoretical studies.
- Proven ability to manage project scopes, requirements, and engineering work plans.
- Experience in developing test plans (DVP&Rs) and analyzing test results using statistical methods. Demonstrated ability to follow structured problem‑solving methods (8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, etc) to root cause issues.
- Capability to identify and contribute to R&D opportunities in the high speed connector space.
- Experience with correlating simulation models to physical test data & interpretation of simulation/test results to meet performance requirements.
- Develop simulation methods to advance predictive models & analysis.
- Familiarity with high speed specifications (e.g. USCAR, Open Alliance, IEEE, etc.), intent of test methods and experience with performing physical testing.
